Life cycle impulse, i think. BMW for facelift.

I'd go 530d LCI, if only for cosmetics, improved I drive from my understanding and reliability over an older 535d.

People will gave better thought through reasoning though, I'm sure.

LCI 530d every time. At least you'd have the vague chance of a diesel being slightly economical that way. My pre-LCI 535d was in reality not that much better than my E46 M3 for economy.

Exactly, I used to get 22mpg round town, 31mpg on a run and averaged just under 26mpg for 25,000 miles in 12 months.
The LCI 530d will do 30mpg round town, 42mpg on a run and average around 36mpg.

The LCI was around 230bhp and can be mapped to around 280bhp, so that would be my choice.

However, the 530d's seem to fetch as much as the 535d's anyway. frown

LCI also gets you the Start/Stop button, if that's a factor, rather than having to turn a key.
You'd still want to get the swirl flaps seen to, if not already.

Ah...I thought that's when the LCI made its appearance, didn't think it was as late as 07.

I had this decision recently. There was a pre LCI 535d and a LCI 530d in the dealership parked right next to each other.
Same colour inside and out but the 530 had a lot higher miles but a better spec.
I decided to buy the 535D as it was faster smile

Fuel economy is pretty poor for a diseasal though frown

thanks
what sort of mpg do you get?

if the mileage were the same, which one would you have gone for though?
what were the mileages of each when looking?

The mileage on the one I bought was 29,000 and the 530d had 49,000 I think.
If the milage was the same I prob would have gone for the 530, at the time I didnt actually realise the economy was different between LCI and non LCI.
I knew the 530 was a facelift model as it had a different gear knob but everything else looked the same.
I get about 30mpg around town and 40mpg on the motorway, but reduce that by about 3mpg in each case if you get it remapped wink
