Just a quick post to say Hi, and of course ask a question!

Picked up my '95 Chimera 4.0 last night. First time TVR owner, already suffering lack of sleep from worry lol.

Quick question, I knew when I bought it there was an MOT advisory for the outriggers, can anyone recommend a specialist (or someone they have used) in the Glos area (it seems Worcs maybe the closest). I had a good poke about and am hoping that I can get away with them being treated initially whilst I sort out the longer term development plan wink

Cheers in advance and no doubt I'll have plenty more questons in the future....

Not sure he'd do it himself, but a call to Neil Garner may be worthwhile if you want someone reasonably local.

PS. Welcome. thumbup

thanks for the quick reply, will look into it.

If I need to get the body off what other things should I consider at the same time?

thanks for the link - looks like you have done a really smart job. I'm under no illusion of what I have bought, was going for a kit car (looking to occupy my weekends) but when I looked around this had more appeal. Managed to find an honest car (one that was loved and appears not to have been bodged) so it's now a matter of time, money and effort to get it sorted.

Though mainly money I expect lol

I live on the edge of the Forest of Dean, a local guy did mine though I had to remove the shell. He's an excellent fabricator and has built lots of custom cars. PM me if you're interested and I'll send you his number.

I did the full works on mine, hoping to MOT within a few days. Full chassis strip, dip, galv and rebuild. for real long-term, it seems like the obvious choice. I only started an engine swap but it snowballed with numerous "while I'm here I might as well..."

Cheers,
Sam

Oi, it's TVR purple! redcardhehe And yes AFAIK it's a 500 thing...

Personally I'd reserve the 'horrible' comment for those wheels - no offense meant but... erm, well...

I was going to overlook the wheels as the chassis looked so good but as you've mentioned it.............

Maybe they are just to allow the chassis to be moved about and the originals are being kept safe somewhere. Must say though, they look better than some after markets I've seen.

But that Chassis cloud9 almost wrong to put the body back on!

Pity you can't have clear GRP hehe

Ah, I can only dream of doing that sort of work, I would love to but time........

I spent the other evening sitting inside the engine bay, (with box and engine out) with rags, a brush and degreaser cleaning the chassis rails and other areas I could reach. I must admit, it aint fun yuck!
