Pre cat AFM - same as 500?

Excuse my ignorance and I know they aren't the same as one is a 3AM and one a 5AM, but could I put a 500 AFM (ie 5AM) on a 430 as a straight swap or would I need to do something so it's compatible? I've got a couple of 5AM spares as we had a spate of them going on the 500 within about 12 months, hence the question.

Blitzracing is the man for this. But i am pretty sure i have read that they are the same and compatible with each other. Worth a try anyway as only a quick job to change them over.

They look the same, wasn't sure about the connections and didn't want to fry the ECU.

They're plug compatible so, yes.

The mans right, although they have different number of pins in the socket, some are not used so it does not matter. The voltage responses for the Hitachi 3AM and Lucas 5AM are the same.

Personally I would try the coil first..... nick o the 500 one evening n go for a blast.... a load of early issue revolved around an f'fd coil..... BUT try with new dizzy first
