Hello chaps,

I did my first long distance rides last year, then went away travelling and got all fat, I am looking to get back into cycling again and was going to do the Chiltern 100 a couple of weeks ago but pulled out as I decided I was not fit enough.

So my question to you is do you know of any organised rides going on in the near future? Or somewhere I can look them up?

I live in Henley by the way, but I am by no means adverse to driving to get somewhere.

Many Thanks!

Have a look at the Evans ride it events, the Wiggle events, and also the sportive calender.

Failing that look up your local club, they will go out most weekends if they are like my club. We have about 8 rides that go out each sunday ranging from 40 miles up to maybe 120 all at different paces with different numbers of hills etc.

The British Heart Foundation has rides throughout the summer - generally very well organised and in a good cause to boot: even if you just pay the entry fee and don;t worry about sponsorship.

Have a look here:

http://www.cyclosport.org/events/Jul-2011/UK.html

Events are displayed by the month throughout the country.

I am based in marlow so if you fancy side rides up towards turville christmas common and all up in that part of the world give me a shout. I go out for 30 to 40 mile rides most evenings
