Heater hoses.............

I have just removed the plenum and trumpet base prior to replacing the fuel hoses. Whilst there it seems like a good idea to replace the 14 year old heater hoses. I can see the two hoses disappearing through the bulkhead into the passenger footwell area, but inside I can't see the actual connection to the two steel supply pipes to the heater matrix. Is the connection behind the carpet and is it accessible? Don't want to pull apart glued carpet if I'm on the wrong track.

Any advice gratefully received.

Yes they are there. As soon as they come through the bulkhead they attach to a couple of 90 degree plastic joiners. Fairly easy to get at. On mine the problem hoses are the ones that go from the plastic joiners and then run to the back of the heater matrix. Havent yet managed to get to the back of the matrix to undo them.

Can’t remember exactly what it gives you access wise, but if you removed the air inlet plumbing there is a panel below it on the inner wing which gets you to the back of the fuse panel and might help.

Some photos attached of mine as its all uncovered at present.

You cant get in to work on these pipes via the cover underneath the MAF as the fuse box and back of the heater box are directly below.








If you check out the heater valve in the last photo you'll see Ive got it on 'manual' at present. Got sick of boiling with the old one and havent worked out how to fix up the new one with limit switches rather than allow it to rotate and rotate.

I also switched from the black heater hose to something a bit more blingy and used a hose connector just the other side of the inner wing, in the engine bay, and switched to blue silicon hoses to match the set I got from ACT.

You can just make them out at the back of the engine in the photo below.
