There seems to be a plethora of new metal available for the modern self-respecting premier league footballer. By brash, I mean slightly vulgar and a very conspicuous display of wealth (and occassionally a demonstration of more more money than sense). But which is the brashest? Before I offend anyone, this is just my opinion! I would say:

any large German SUV (although I don't find the Touareg too offensive)
any large German luxury saloon (preferably with the biggest, least economical petrol engine possible) e.g. A8, S-Class, 7-Series, Panamera
Bentley and Jaguar (I lament the loss of elegance in the design that you got with the old XJ, Turbo R, Continental R and Arnage)
Lexus SC430 (metal folding hardtop thingy)
Cadillac Escalade
Corvette

Looking back further in time, I can't think of so many. The 50s Cadillacs were probably the earliest examples of brash that I can think of. I thought that the 80s and early 90s would bring on a torrent of affordable brash but I can only think of 3 or 4 examples. Although I dislike most of the above, I would quite fancy some retro, affordable brash that would make me look like I'm on a 6 figure salary until I return home to my 2-up or 2-down but I can only think of the following:

BMW 8-Series (a 4-wheeled Gordon Gekko and in white wouldn't look out of place on the set of Miami Vice!)
Mercedes-Benz CL/SL
Porsche 928

I expect you would still need a 6-figure salary to run one of them though! I know the 911 was the banker's weapon of choice back in the day but you could argue that it is a proper sports car and more of the enthusiast's choice now, so not so brash anymore?

So what is the brashest car you can buy and can you think of any more good retro brash?

Anything preferred by a premiership footballer or an arab.

I'm going to say a nice tacky coloured, over wheeled convertible Bentley.

Went round the factory a few weeks ago and some of the colour and interior choices were gash.

was going to say testarossa but i think for this working definition of brash the cars need to have no actual ability or inherent fitness for purpose.

This seems to cover all bases, but don't forget the nouveau riche Russians too.

Anything in white.

An AM Cygnet in colours to match your One-77 = vulgar (and twee).

There was a hideous white and chrome Bugatti with Dubai plates parked in Knightsbridge last Saturday, with a vile pimped out white Range Rover next to it. Truly, these are the cars that taste forgot. Also a horrid black Lamborghini with a completely tossy personalised plate, illegally black and silver, saying S3XXY, or something like that, which it wasn't.

Ok you can't buy it but would say this qualifies for being a tad brash. It was at this years Bromley Pagent, looked like something Captian America would drive on his way to save the Planet from pending doom. biggrin

I want to drive this to do the weekly shop so badly it hurts. hehe

I know what you mean but I haven't mentioned Ferraris and Lamborghinis because they generally look good and/or are fast. The Testarossa may have been quite brash in its day bit is now quite rare and kinda cool now in a 1980s OTT way!
