PAS Steering Rack - Cracked nosing

Im in the throes of finishing off a partial rebuild of my Griff. Ive got the motor back in and everything connected. Got it started up and noticed a leak from the PAS rack.

Went to investigate tonight and thought that one of the aeroquip adaptors was winding in a bit too easily. Then I noticed that the rack nosing was cracked from the pipe to the outer edge of the nose body. Taking a closer look I noticed that there is a crack on the other one as well.

Photo attached shows the cracks situated at 6.00pm and 9.00pm. coming away from each of the threads out towards the outer edge of the body.

Does anyone know if the rack nosings are available at all or what other options I have. I dont really want to spend more than a grand on a recon rack if this is the only part that needs renewing. Hellllpppp!

+1 for the above based on feedback from fellow Tivvers.

From memory I also believe that Kiley Clinton also offer a couple of mods to the rack, one which may involve an O ring which solves a design issue and the other which is a 'secret' mod which improves the feel of the rack. It might be worth asking about these.

No, but my rack kept going back to all the others. I'm trying to help people to not choose the same poor suppliers I did initially

Everything disconnected so just messing .

I think I have pulled my rack out about 7 times, have I got close to you yet?

Btw, when you find someone who can replace the rack bar and pinion, I have two to go!

Wanted to close this out by thanking Kiley Clinton Engineering for doing a proffessional job in a very short time. They received the pinion housing on Monday and I was unwrapping the rebuilt replacement housing at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Ahha!

They couldn't repair my 2 racks I sent them.

One of the chim guys, Jim took one of those racks to another specialist and picked it up last week apparently all fixed. He is going to convert his chim to P/S.
He also left the other one there that will be ready Thursday.

I will inspect it then and if satisfactory, will, like magic reveal their name!

Then for the 8th time, I'll change my fecking rack..........................
