Fuel system leak

Very nearly lost the Tiv yesterday, was approaching destination on West Coast of Wales 12 miles south of Aberystwyth when got a very strong smell of petrol, engine also started to sound like a tractor. As I was within about 2 miles of where I wanted to be I carried on (very foolish in hindsight), stopped the car at destination, and as I stopped saw whisps of smoke coming from bonnet, so switched off engine got out guickly and retreated. Nothing happened, so went back after cup of tea and lifted bonnet, there was a puddle of petrol in the engine V. so without starting engine switched on ignition and saw the problem straight away, petrol pouring out under pressure from the top of one of the injectors. I consider myself very lucky to still have the car. I supect the top "O" ring seal has blown on the injector. I'm sure there are people on here who have experienced something similar, could my diagnosis be right and if it is, how easy is it to change the O ring?? Any help appreciated. By the way this is only the 2nd time the car has given me grief in over 4 years of ownership. The first time was a pinhole leak in a water hose.

guess the fuel line (to the engine) is history, i had that but found out when i wanted to start the engine.Edited by crazymatelot on Tuesday 5th July 21:43
remove the panel near the windscreen and on the top back side of the engine you will find the fuel line.
Just with 1 press on the black start button it will spray fuell (a lot).

Fuel lines are okay all replaced about 18 months ago, the leak is actually coming out of the top of the second injector from the back of the engine on the left side, so fairly confident it's injector related.remove the panel near the windscreen and on the top back side of the engine you will find the fuel line.

upss...in that case i would call my TVR garage... cant help you out here, sorry

My car has already suffered an injector fire (whilst in the 'care' of the PO). Not really sure where the leak came from, but the invoices and collateral damage tell the story. You were undoubtedly very lucky, as most cars warn you when something is about to go wrong, and it is all too easy to ignore the pleas for help when you just want to get home.
When I removed the injector fuel rail recently every injector seal appeared to be damaged, the design is not so foolproof.
