AJP timming cover

hi all could anyone explain to me the differance between the early and late timming covers and can you tell them apart looking at them in situ some pics would be great many thanks

later covers, the most common type have the piece covering the water and oil pump down on the left hand side, the early ones had the same on both sides, I think the early ajp`s had two water pumps?

thanks for the reply clive, I always thought they were the dry sump covers with the gear for the oil pump on that side , i also thought the early covers had some kind of screw set up on the idler gears(seen from the outside) and the later ones were blanked off and a differant front main oil seal ,of corse i could be way off the mark so i was hopeing to find some pictures of both types but cant find any
