Sag or F355

nearing decision time... car fund approaching 40k....... Sag or Ferrari ? what would you do ????

Tough one but as a road car I would go for the Ferrari. Fantastic to drive in manual form and a bit more grown up. Sag is awesome but f355 is IMO one of the best modern ferraris

Nice choice to have, 2 cars high up my dream list! - 355 is an awesome car, but for the looks and rarity I would just love to have a Sag!

Guess you will just have to get out and look at some of each and drive them and see which you prefer.

Never drove a f355 so couldnt compere the 2, but regret getting rid of my sag!

They're both fantastic cars but also so different. The 355 is one of the prettiest cars ever made, it's quick but the Sag is far quicker so if it's speed you want the TVR is the way to go. The 355 just feels special, the interior is not a patch on a TVR (including build quality IMHO) but it just has an aura about it. They do handle very well then so does the Sag, both have similar running costs (find a decent Ferrrari indie though) and will both turn heads whereever you go.
Essentially it depends what you're looking for - drive both and then make up your mind as they really are chalk and cheese - I've not owned either but have driven both as well as knowing owners of both.

Afraid that Ferrari has long moved to my personal 'naff' file as brands go. Although the 355 was the last of the pretty ones IMO.

Oh I quite agree IMO they have lost something with the advent of driver aids and flappy paddles, if the OP had said F360, I would have gone with the Sag although a 599 has its attractions

Sorry but Ferrari is just "cheesy" nowadays, used to love them as a boy, and was my fave top trumps card!
Did anyone see that fat pompous tt on one of those cooking programs, he had one basically in his living room of his "executive" bovis home, yellow 348 if iirc?

The Sagaris has more sense of occasion. Unless you're one of those (many) people who lusts after a Ferrari I'd say it was a nicer 'thing' to have. But the F355 is fantastically capable. I've not driven a Sag, but I have been round the same track back-to-back in a well sorted Sag and a GTS-spec F355 as a passenger and the 355 seemed noticeably quicker, sharper and grippier.

I'd still buy the Sagaris if it was my money, though. Better noise, better looks, more character and still pretty damn rapid.

GTS(-spec) might be an anomaly - in cold terms of lap times, look where (read: how close) the Sagaris is in relation to the 2005 generation of supercars, and how far off the '80s and '90s forebears to the latter are/were; a standard 1995 'nearly' supercar wouldn't stand a chance, would it?

Although modern rubber surely would help a whole blinkin' lot...

F355 is pretty quick on paper and in real life. On the auto route it can do 170mph comfortably with a bit more left, the airflow even means that the engine temps drop as you get up to that sort of speed.

Off the line the Sag may be quicker but the driver would make the biggest difference and the F355 feels more planted and secure so IMO is more rewarding for the average driver as it gives you the confidence to push it harder.

The F355 does feel wider than the Sag which may slow it down on B roads and on narrow circuits when passing other cars.

Over 1/4 mile the Sag is 1 second quicker so there is a difference.

Both are good cars, ultimately it will be a subjective decision
