I've always been interested in good political debate. Enjoying nearing both sides of the argument and making informed decision based on that.

However over the past few years good sources of this seem to be in decline. Radio 2 at lunchtime, now with Vine, is an absolute joke. Most answers to all ills appear to be "it seems to me we ought to round them all up and shoot them" or "if it wasn't for the bureaucrats in Brussels....blah blah". It is worse than Jeremy Kyle. And don't get me started on Question Time which makes Fox News look well balanced. Newsnight is generally rubbish but has a few gems.

The few I think are informative are This Week on BBC1, Weekly Political Review on R4 and Piennaar's Reviews on R5L.

Are there any you find informative? And what makes a good political debate. In my view the key appears to be not having members of the front benches and or members of the public involved. A light-hearted host and the program must not be too popular(ist).

What makes a good political debate? A silent one.

Those ppl who actually know politics are too cynical and world weary to care too much about debating, they just want to get their actions done.
Those ppl who want to debate politics usually dont have enough knowledge to do so with little more than a vague clue about which they talk.

Ergo the best option is silence.
