As the title suggests i am considering swapping my 600cc sports bike for a jap car. Value is around £3000 and i dont reslly care how many seats etc etc. Fuel would obviously be better if the MPG was higher but this wouldn't be a show stopper either.
Not decided on anything yet and i have just advertised the bike so all your ideas/suggestions are welcome.....

So, you have 3000 to spend on a car you don't care about how many seats there are, and no other preference, except maybe good MPG. A fine job of narrowing down, sir. Prepare yourself for pages, and pages of cars under 3000, and no other rhyme nor reason!
hehe

Keep the bike. Seriously. I sold mine in October and now the weather is nice I'm regretting it and looking at getting another.

No manner of jap turbo nutter car is going to satisfy you after a bike. and for 3k you'll not get anything truly special. For smiles & bhp per £ the bike will always be the victor.

.. I'm sure a whole host of sub £3k Jap car owners will come along and dispute this, but for £3k you're better off with the bike. Now if you had say double that, the options would be different.

yes 3k will get you very little

and wot is on offer will not be in very good nick keep the bike its faster and alot cheeper to run

most jap cars will only get you about 25mpg if your lucky so you will find yourself stopping more often in the garage

and £10 will be just enough to get you off the garage for court

Keep the bike. Your not getting anything special for that money. You could land yourself a money pit.

All fair points, and i did not narrow the criteria down for the simple reason of seeing the pages of suggestion and discusion that would follow....hence the title of what Jap car should i get. Thanks for pointing it out though;)

At £3k? It's going to be a complete dog!

This is the problem OP - You're not going to get an amazing car for £3k. Seriously, as someone who had a bike for years and regrets selling it, stick with the bike.

Or you can trade it for my MX-5? wink

Now I've owned a Gen 6 GT and driven a Gen 7. They're not bad cars by any measure. Very fun to own.

He'd fall asleep with boredom due to the amount of power they have.

I tend to agree for the £3k budget but I gave up bikes 6 years ago and even though I had very very quick stuff I am perfectly happy with 350-400hp road cars and dont miss bikes at all but then I spend £8k or so to buy my cars and then a fair bit more gradually tweaking them

Pity you didn't have more dosh because i could see you in a bike engined lightweight like one of those Hayabusa engined jobbies.

You get the thrill of the bike engine noise, ultra quick off the mark, keep your leathers and helmet for those horrible days (for open top cars of course), surefootedness of having 4 wheels on the ground and more arse-end-out fun than you can shake a stick at.

Check out the cars on this site...specially the smartfortwo thumbup
