tamiya paint with car clear over top?

anyone know if clear coat for normal cars will go over tamiya arcylics that have been airbrushed on?

I have done, with no problems (cellulose based clear coat)

I always do this on aircraft models:

1 - couple of coats of Halfords Plastic Primer.
2 - Tamiya colour coats.
3 - couple of coats of Halfords clear.
4 - apply decals.
5 - couple more coats of Halfords clear to seal decals.
6 - (if matt finish required) couple of coats of Tamiya clear with Flat Base added)
