Hi,

has anyone tried getting the cushions off the frame and putting them back on again?

Is it easy or tricky?

I have bought a seat off Leigh to repair my tired one in the 350i...

Hi Adam,

I just took the seats off the frames to put a layer of 12 mm foam over the original foam as the leather had gone a bit baggy just use a screwdriver to ease off the 'C' clips from the tube, go from the inside out, then when refitting the outside in (sort of roll them over the tube if that makes sence). as it can damage the leather and they are really tough, when we put the leather back on we taped it in place first not sure if it was necessary but it did'nt hurt.

Hope this helps

Adam

Here's 27 year old cushions

so I bought foam for about £18 which I carved to shape. The best result was using an angle grinder with a diamaond tipped blade for stone. Covered it in muslim to smooth it off. You can get inch thick foam and if I had to do it again I would buy that and glue it up to the correct thickness.

The frame was rusty and the wire supporting the seat was snapped in a few places so i used cable ties. Firm but comfy! All very easy to take apart and put back together again, I forgot to take photos of the new foam in place

The back was ok so didn't touch that
