Can anybody tell me why every time I try to lock my 96P Chim the alarm goes off instantly. Have checked the door switches and the interior light goes out. The alarm goes off instantly on locking the car. The alarm and immobiliser are a standard Meta system as fitted by the factory. Please help as my car can currently not be locked.

Do the indicators flash, or is it just the siren sounding? If it's only the siren, it could be a duff siren.
Does your system / key fob have a "panic" function and that's being triggered instead of the alarm being set? No idea what to do if that's the case but it crossed my mind.
After reading up on the alarm it seems that it is going into panick mode with one chirp of the siren followed by 30 seconds of the alarm sounding. This has now become intermitten with no apparent reason for when it decides to play up. The indicators do flash.
