As some of you may be aware, Roger is going round the country performing Tommy in its entirety, followed by a great set of Who classics. Just got back from seeing him in Glasgow, and I urge you, if he's performing anywhere near you, grab yourself a ticket. Drove down from Aberdeen with my mate, and its been the greatest gig we've ever been to, even if we were probably the youngest people there by about 20 years (save one couple who brought their very young child in a pushchair, good to see they're getting the lad into good music early on!) Saw Jamiroquai earlier this year, and Clapton a few years back, and as good as they were, Roger just blew them away. Next up for us is Alice Cooper, playing Glasgow on Halloween, although he's gonna have to be something truely special to top tonight!

<bloody annoyed> how long does the tour last? won;t be in the uk until early august frown

i did see the who [well, daltrey & townshend] play a couple of years back and was mighty impressed. daltrey is one of very very few who, with eyes closed, could fool you into believing he's still in his early 20s. unbelievable that he's managed to keep that voice this long when others lost it years ago.

More info on remaining dates here http://www.thewho.com/index.php?module=gigography&...

Originally the TCT gig at Albert Hall was just a one off, but Roger said at the beginning last night that in doing that gig he "rediscovered the musical genius" of Tommy and decided to do a tour. Sadly no Pete, Roger said that his hearing loss is getting really bad and they're working on a new system for him to hear stage directions more easily and hope to have him back soon, but his brother Simon Townshend did a fabulous job, if you shut your eyes you could easily have mistaken him for his brother.

I love 60s/70s rock, and I love the Who, but I can't like Tommy for some reason. Subject Matter? Songs? it doesn't work for me.

After the prompt of this thread, we went to see Roger last night, at the Concert Hall, Nottingham. There were a few gremlins in at the start, but what a show!

Absolutely brilliant, not cheap, but oh, that was good. After seeing the stage show for Quadrophenia, I understood the album and film, after last night, I now understand Tommy too.

If you get chance, go and see it. The support chap's not bad either, Paul Freeman.
