Lead in times for new cars

Current VW lead times:
Polo - 24 weeks
Golf - 21 weeks
Tiguan - 20 weeks
Passat - 18 weeks
More to do with building for other markets than effects of Tsunami - more profit to be made building for markets other than the UK at the moment.
Strange issue that is Tsunami related - some metallic paints use metal flakes produced in japan so lead times for some specific colours is longer

I wouldn't trust VW's delivery schedules based on my personal experience.
Ordered new Golf GT 140 TDi in September '10, told delivery March '11.
March came, told me April, April came, told me *estimated delivery* late May due to not having a build slot.

ks - Cancelled it and ordered a beemer.
5 series has taken just 12 weeks from ordering to arrive at my door.
