Front inner wing access

The bulb holder (and wires) for my nearside indicator repeater have fallen down inside the wing. I've tried fishing around with bits of wire and extending magnets etc, but can't find the bl@@dy thing...

Anyone got any good ideas?

I got my 13 yr old son to find the wires on mine, much thinner arms. Worked a treat

There's the easy way and the hard way.

Unfortunately the easy way involves a hole saw in the back of the wheel arch and plugging it up afterwards.

The hard way is going in through the access for the heater matrix. Drain the cooling system - at least enough to be well below the matrix level. Remove the carpet from the passenger footwell and disconnect the two water pipes to the heater. Untape the door release cable and shift it out of the way. There are then several self tapping screws holding a square access panel in place. Once you have the panel loose (the fan motor is bolted to the middle of it) you can wriggle the entire airbox out with the fan attached. Hopefully you can make enough room to get an arm in without taking the whole thing out.

I found a couple of carrier bags worth of dead leaves inside the inner wing when I did mine. The fan seems to work much better without them there.

Just one other thing - do you know whether the repeater wiring is fed from the front or the back? It may help me in my final fishing attempts before I start the strip down!

I am not 100% certain as its a while since I was in there but I am fairly confident that the repeater wiring runs along the bottom of the door frame from the rear of the car then up to the repeater hole.

Have you tried a snake camera or the like in the hole? You can get them for about £25 from fleabay and they come in handy for all sorts of jobs.
