Hello,

I am thinking about buying an E46 M3 but am slightly shocked by the insurance prices, are there specialist insurance companies for the M power cars? I am a middle aged aged bloke with full NCB and good record but maybe I am just out of touch with insurance. Any help will appreciated.

Thanks

I use Need2Insure and they are great! Hmmmmm....having said that I haven't ever had to claim. Maybe someone could suggest a company that has been okay when one makes a claim.

For reference I'm 33, 9yrs ncb, no points and was quoted £700 which I think is reasonable for a car of this type. That was just using one of the comparison sites.

Also a middle aged bloke with full NCB and a clean licence, £425 fully comp for my 55-plate M3 CS with Liverpool & Victoria including legal assistance and a courtesy car. The car has is garaged and has a tracker fitted plus I also live in a relatively low risk area. The premium is based on covering up to 15k miles/annum but excludes protected no claims (which is a total waste of money IMO).

Hope this helps!

I never thought I'd say this but I have just started admiral multicar!!!

My ML is group 50 and with full NCB and no points everyone wanted around £1000-£1300 which shocked me.

Choosing multi car the ML is £525 and when the Boxster comes up for renewal it will be £299 which is amazing.

From July they said they will be doing classic policies as part of it and have quoted around £1200 (app.) which is for both my dailys and my E30 M3, 968CS and my Cortina.

Interesting...

I tried the 2 big comparison sites and was quoted £1.3k (27yr old, clean license, 6yrs NCB) and skyinsurance offered me £960.

On the phone with Flux. £1500!

I had a good quote for mine from Confused.com
Tesco were cheapest at £570 and no need for a tracker.
Put in my clubcard and this reduced to £550, then I made a phone call as I am already insured with them on my Golf GTI which is my second car and they dropped it to £456. Happy days
I am 40 with 8 yrs NCB.
