Interesting "Green" technology in cars?

Evening all,

I'm not the sort of person who wears lentils and eats hemp, but I do appreciate clever engineering solutions that make cars more efficient in some way. I don't like cars that pretend to hug polar bears on the surface but actually kill babies when you have you back turned.

So anyway, I have a 10 minute presentation to make on a "Green" technology that interests me the most, as part of a assessment centre. It can be anything, not just automotive, but that is the area I have focused on, as it interests me. I have some ideas and have done some reading, but have not decided yet - I am still open to inspiration.

What "Green" technologies do you find interesting (mainly in the automotive sense, but anything else could be worth mentioning)?

If I use your idea and get the job, I'll owe you a pint.

Radiator flaps and water pumps that can disengage are nice ideas.
