I don't get it.

I watch the BTCC on TV and love it, the struggle Plato is fighting against NGT engines (as his chevy still runs with the old regulations) is great to watch.

But then I tune into WTCC and chevys in that run NGT engines. And seem to be taking advantage of the turbo, power/torque differences.

Both teams I think are run by RML, so why don't they run the same powerplants?

Any ideas?

It would be very interesting to see how the 1.6 WTCC engine stacked up against the 2.0 BTCC turbos. On paper the BTCC engined cars should be quicker but....

Were/are there any of the old turbo diesel Seats left in the BTCC as that could give an indication of the perfromance of the WTC cars. The WTCC Chevy petrol turbos destroyed them earlier this season before the Seats made the switch to petrol turbos too.

no other teams other than the factory seats ever got to use the turbo diesels in btcc. Seat refused to sell on any of their engines to customers in the btcc, i assume to stop rival teams getting hold of their tech, only ever selling the chassis (now run by tom boardmans team).

I think diesels have been banned now anyway.

Wtcc chevys run a 1.6turbo engine nothing to do with the btcc. The engines are the fia 1.6 turbo world engine crap they are trying to get in to most fia run series, wrc runs it aswel.

Btcc chevys are 2.0 n/a enignes which is a s2000 car which is or was the standared base for touring car series around the world but the cars havve become expensive to build so gow introudcing the new ngtc cars which cost half as much as s2000 cars. It becomes confusing in that there is a tradition period to fase in the new cars till 2013 then the field will become full ngtc cars. At the moment there is s2000 cars running with n/a engines which are 5 chevys and 2 bmws. S2000 cars with the new turbo engine called hybrids which is the majority of the field vauxhall, ford, honda, seat, golf teams. Then there is the full ngtc car which are the audi a4 and the 2 toyotas. There is also a btc spec the old btcc spec integra running around.

At the start of the season gow and toca promised parity between the 2 types so the fastes turbo car is no quicker than the fastest n/a car and untill croft it was clear that the turbo cars are quicker thats why plato was complaing about also all the other s2000 runners have complained at some time.

Much perfer to watch btcc, the wtcc is dull dull dull.

yet another example of why 'world' 'std' engines kill any series...

why do people think this is a good idea I just don't get? they always ending up costing more, killing racing, causing bhing, etc.

Yea the wtcc is boring as hell 1.6 turbo sounds crap and it not a cheap engine to build i believe. The same with the wrc i would rather see say 2.0 turbos or v6 turbos bring back group b but more cost effective for modern rallying. 1.6 sounds crap something that a chav in a corsa would run.

Wtcc are going 1.6 turbo as its a fia series and the fia are pushing this world engine same engine as in wrc.

Btcc are using 2.0 turbo engine and introducing the ngtc cars ie audi and the 2 toyota which cost half as much as current s2000 cars.

Most of the wtcc field is rich business men on a weekend joly not many get paid. The btcc has more than 2-3 decent drivers, plato, neal, collard, o'niel, shedden, toc, bordmen ex wtcc driver i could go on. But the btcc has always been about indy teams and drivers running at the front the super touering era was a blip in the 50 years of the btcc even though it was a good time for the btcc it killed it when the manafactures fked off and left us with 3 teams left in 2000. I would not want manafactures to come back like it happened in the 90s what we have know is what the btcc should be about.

Its not like i dont like the wtcc the battle between the chevys last race was good but i feel the competion is lower than the btcc and its gets boring just seeing the same cars in 1st 2nd and 3rd, you got more cars in with a chance of winning a race aswel in the btcc and the battles futher down the field are close too but it could be that it a all british series and that what intreste me more.

I will leave it with this dont want it to become a bashing match like the f1 threads end up like.
