Strange digital beeping sound....

Guys, while driving today, after about 100 miles I heard a strange "Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep". Not entirely unlike a digital watch kinda sound (and NO I dont have one, so it wasn't that!).

I ignored it at first, then 15 mins later it happened again, then 5 mins later again. Then no more.

When it happened, the temp was normal, there was plently of fuel and the oil pressure was normal. Any ideas, as it's very odd, and worrying when you hear something unexpected like that. Its never done it before, and this was my first big-ish journey (150 miles) in the 3 weeks I've had it.

Thoughts or help anyone???

may be just daft but... could this have anything to do with your Radio/CD Player - like when you leave the facade on after turning off the engine. Or may be not

I don't know of anything that is supposed to make bleeping noises. Whereabouts is the sound coming from? It's a bit of a longshot, but could it be the fuel pump? Mine makes lots of whistling noises when I turn the ignition on. Can't hear anything much after the engine fires up.

RDS radios sometimes do this if they are set to monitor traffic alerts. If you lose the signal and the radio can't find a radio station with a TP traffic broadcast, it beeps several times (my Pioneer does it 6 times).

Solution, either put up with it, don't go places where you lose the radio signal or turn off the traffic annoucements (TA).

My RDS radio (Pioneer) does exactly this, and I too was pretty concerned on my first long journey in the car when something started beeping.

Ahhhh thanks guys....yeah it beeps 6 times, its a Pioneer and I did have TA turned on, so I guess its the same thing as your ones IPAddis and Gideonr. Phew....did worry me though...lol...

Never use the bloody radio anyway - crap reception so simply have it on CD only or off. Must get around to getting that signal booster...
