A few months ago, I received a letter from AG. I owe them £10, and can I call them to arrange payment. Turns out that the screen I had replaced in Aug 2009 had a shortfall on the excess I paid due to me declaring the wrong amount to them.

They wanted me to contact my old insurance co. to sort this out. I declined and asked them to prove the debt as I've disposed of all the docs from back then. They've not got back to me until yesterday.

Another letter. This time a "we cannot persue your claim" letter. They cannot claim back their costs from my ins. co. for a chip I had repaired in Nov 2008! Seems I gave them the wrong details even though another chip claim went through ok a couple if months later on the same policy.

So, they're now after the correct info. Again I have disposed of the docs, so again they want me to chase the ins. co. for my car then for them. Seems the costs are around £100 this time.

They've said they'll keep writing to me until I agree to help. I've said that they have to prove they haven't received payment as understandably, I'm not trusting their accounting system given 2 issues in a few months.

So why are they chasing claims from 2-3 years ago?

Skint? Autowindscreens went. Maybe Autoglass are behind them.

Or maybe they have a huge backlog of these things to chase up.

That would explain it then. They're about to go bust and are scrabbling for every penny they can get.

Somewhat surprised that they'd admit this TBH.

They may have cash flow issues but unless they are truly hopeless at collecting from the insurers, I'm not quite sure how they manage it - it isn't the most cash hungry enterprise out there. I can't imagine volumes vary that much (who else repairs screens apart from the other lot? & it isn't like road quality is getting any better) so unless they're highly leveraged or can't collect within a reasonable settlement period, not sure where the issue might be. They don't have significant capital outlays and don't employ the most skilled people someone ever saw fit to place on this earth, so unless they have debt settlement looming (and cant refinance adequately, if at all), what's the driver (slightly confused).

Otherwise, as suggested, they may have taken the decision to employ some debt laden grads or other grateful souls as a short-term clear-up exercise.

Robbers. Quoted me twice what I paid a local company for a screen. If they didnt spend so much on pathetic advertising they wouldnt need to chrage so much.
