Touching wood whilst I write this (without sounding dodgy...)

I was reading a thread in the Porsche section about roll cages and not wearing helmets - and how dangerous they are in minor accidents.

I know TVR have used the best impact absorbing leather padding they had laying around, but I can touch the cage with the right side of my head if I tilt it over. I certainly don't wear a helmet to ride around in mine!

Has anyone else considered this before?

A few years ago i was navigating for a mate on a single venue stage rally,we had a slight moment did not hit anything but give us a good shake around in the car.My helmet bashed an unpadded part of the cage with enough force to damage it slightly.

Had forgotten about this until you mentioned it. Hit my head lightly on the covered bar above the driver's door in a fairly low speed spin at Brunnchen at 'ring when new (oops). No helmet as 'it wasn't a trackday', was enough to give me a headache redface

I squeezed in a thin section of confor-foam between the bar and it's outer cover afterwards, which also protects the helmet I always now wear on trackdays ....

This is the reason I took the seat pad out so I was sitting lower. Also, never liked the roof bracket the T350T had.

I am 6'4".. and find my head rest comfortably on the cage.. however that will also translate to a not so comfy bang should there be an impact.

I did consider this before bought my Sag, however not be able to shorten myself nor remove the cage meant in reality, Sag... or no Sag.

Motorsport regs (here in NZ at least) require padding on any part of the cage that your helmet could conceivably come into contact with in an accident. If I was you I would be looking at running some dense foam padding along the bar - shouldn't be too visible and if you need it, you'll be glad to have it.

Seems this is either not an issue, or most people just ignore it!

Try a thinner seat cushion?
