Audi RS4 Respect

Almost surprised yesterday by one of these in the Sag. Was really surprised it kept up with me until ~6000rpm. Anyone owned or had any experience with these understated cars?

Even the 's4' is a quick car, the RS4 is an absolute monster and very easy to chip & tune. As standard they are very very quick, and handle like on rails!

Very understated too if thats your thing...

I drive a very loud Tuscan so clearly it isnt 'my' thing

Through windy Derbyshire roads i had to drive my Cerb 4.5 very hard to stay with an RS6 estate , sounded well too.

Went all the way to Goodwood and back in one with a pal of mine Thursday before last. He's had the sports exhaust which sounds cracking and on a par with Chims and Griffs now, which is how it should sound. Certainly got the heads turning through Haslemere. I like Haslemere. Actually we went past Fennies at one point too. Lots torque on tap.

Sounds like they are pretty quick - glad the TVR's just have the edge. Actually the RS4 driver dropped back when I slowed and he pulled off into a lay-by. Guess he was surprised too and likely to buy a TVR now

Respect? Understated? 2.7 ltr V6 biturbo followed by 4.2 ltr V8 400 hp. Hardly me thinks! Not to mention RS6 V10 biturbo - undersated? Nah let's not go there.

I had a 4.2ltr V8 RS4 for a day on an extended test drive and it was very nice, although it felt quite big and weighty and I hated the stupid sports seats. My Tuscan however was in a different league performance wise, it really was.

Had a play with an MTM(or similar) V10 TT RS6's on the motorway and whilst they're fast, they're quite slow to get going. Once they're on boost they're pretty formidable, especially above 1.25 leptons but that's not for the public road.

We all know that Saggy's play second fiddle to Tuscans in a straight line though.

Was two cars behind an RS6 en route to Goodwood Breakfast Club a couple of months ago.......it did go well and sounded excellent too. Mr Varley has good experience of an RS6....debadged too....very WISC.......

In the real world like on wet or greasy road i bet the RS4 is the quicker car with a average driver behind the wheel point to point. Quattro grip for you will make it a easy drive if that what your in to.

Just like a 4x4 will be quicker across a muddy field with an average driver. Bit meaningless saying things like that don't you think?

I had a Tuscan 2S for two and a half years before selling it to get an RS4.

Far more understated than a Purple Tuscan with a whale tail, but point to point I would say without a doubt the RS4 is quicker on UK roads..... plus you are less likely to get stuck on the side of the road waiting for recovery with the Audi (as I can testify to).

V8 rumble is just as addictive as the Straight Six roar, plus (as I have the estate version) much more practical than the TVR.

Don't get me wrong though, very few days pass when I don't miss the Tuscan for it's drama, looks and the way it made me feel.

I raced one the 414bhp 4.2 model about 3 years ago from a standing start in the dry & only just got in front as the speed mounted.

I have always loved them, understated with a lovely sound got talking to the owner at the next set of lights & we enjoyed some banter,i would defo buy one, its one of the few great audis.

I had a 450bhp 2.7tt RS4 which kept up with a friends 4.5 Cerb all day long. In fact It's causing a bit of a dilemma at the moment... Do I buy a T350 or the V8 RS4

There was a couple of RS6's at the last Vmax I attended.

Both about 750bhp & they certainly motored. Not sure how hard it was trying, but it showed the Ferrari 599 a clean pair of heels off the start line & obviously went on to post higher terminals.

Quite strange to see a normal looking estate car launch like that..The 'whoosh' before take off gave a clue as to what was about to unfold

There's something just not right about a comfortable family saloon with 400 odd bhp. It's just wrong...somehow... and it's not fair either. And that's all I have to say on the subject. Apart from chasing Gewy's much modded S3 round the North Norfolk coast on a PH day out on the day of the royal wedding. When I had a bastard of a job keeping up with the dam thing round the twisty country roads. All 350 plus bhp of his miltek turbo'd modified tuetonic shopping hatchback thingy. I hate them. And I won't buy one. Nope, definetly not. Ever. Respect my arse. So there.

In an effort to gain a couple of extra seats, I actually quite fancy an RS6 to replace my T350. They are quite affordable now and can easily see 500bhp with the torque and traction to go with it.

Or a Monaro/VXR8, 996, XKR......

Problem with a TVR is knowing what to get instead! Would I get bored?
