Why do so many owners have such a big downer on Vixens with a sunroof. Was it not an OE option or do 'real' enthusiasts just consider them naff? If so is this all types or just some?

Who the hell cares what other people think. I was going to glass up my "hole" to save a few ounces, but after a spectacular drive back from the vintage races, last weekend, in my friend's Pug 505 with a sunroof, there's no fking way.

First thing I do when I get in is pull open the Webasto. Gets too claustrophobic otherwise, and you get to hear the exhaust more. smile

£45 - absolute bargain! Mine has a Britax badge is this the same as Webasto (it's folding vinyl)?

Hi Steve, 2 different versions on the same theme...one (Vixen) you see has a chrome handle and the other has a recessed swivel black handle (M).

There must be a blurred cross over point.

Hi Adrian, black handle version - but that makes sense as it was fitted post manufacture.

Possibly one reason may be that they can look rather tatty when old and recovering them is not the easiest of jobs. Also the steel bits under the back and front can rust quite badly. All in all an expensive job to restore if you have to pay someone. And bits for them are rather scarce

Big mistake to fibre glass them over though as Vixens can get quite hot if the weather is pleasant. My son has just recovered his and says after a drive back from Zolder very glad he still has it.

are you talking about a fold-away sunroof...which looks authentic and historic correct or do you mean a glassunroof, typically fitted in the 80ies, on a tesco´s parking area during you made your shopping?
