Hi Guys,
I'm looking to goto the 24hr race next year with 3 mates. I went in 2007 and everyone is pushing for a hotel this time (age etc), although nothing ott we will literally sleep there and that is it. I'll put together costs for camping aswell but these seem to be much easier to find with White rabbit etc.
Can anyone guide me on the following please?
1.Which hotels are within walking distance of the circuit?
2.Any agents you can recommend booking through for packages?
3.How much roughly would a tuesday-monday in a hotel with tickets cost for four people?
4.When are the dates likely to be announced?
5.Are ticket prices announced yet?

I get quite wound up with posts like this - nothing personal.
You've been to Le Mans and have the internet - so do some leg work yourself. Search for prices for this year with agents who cover Le Mans. It's not too difficult. Send some translated emails to hotels, find them on a map, write an email, translate on Google and send. An afternoon of work on the laptop will soon get you a big list of possibilities and prices.

I have been doing that today aswell. However knowing there are some regulars on here I was hoping I would be guided towards some better companies and areas to look at rather than going with any random camping area or company as i am aware there are worse campsites and hotels which are better avoided I just don't know which ones they are.
So far price wise it looks like it'll cost around just under £335 a head camping with some niceties.
I've emailed team Langoustine, OnSite events, and GP tours so far and has a nice responce from langoustine this afternoon which ive based my pirces on.

You're looking for a hotel within walking distance of the circuit. Based on my experience of seeking a hotel within 25 miles of the circuit over several years I wish you luck! The problem is all the agencies sign up everything within reasonable range of Le Mans years in advance.
You could easily get a package with a ticket agency including an hotel, circuit tickets etc, and based on my past experience you'd be looking at something like £1500 all up "hard costs" for two people for four days. This will include ferry, modest hotel, GE tickets, & parking.
My "hard costs" on a DIY basis for two for LM 2011 was just under £800. This included a hotel maybe 80 miles away from the circuit and we slept in the car at the circuit on Saturday night. I can give you a full breakdown if needed.
You may also like to know that in advance of LM 2011 I did some serious research into hotel availability and costs in October 2010, and it was difficult to find anything. The best quote I got was for a central hotel, four nights, double room, around £2000.
You could also look at Travel Destinations and their flexhotel package. This is like a two bedded plastic shed with washing facilities and secure parking actually inside the circuit. The 2011 cost was £750 per person for four nights. This excluded anything else such as ferry, GE tickets etc. I gather the flexhotel facility is popular for corporate hospitality and some of the teams' support persons.

If you can't write decent French, ring them, most of their receptionsists can converse in English

I did hear that they have now been booked by an agency other than thier regular bookings like ourselves
There is an awful lot you could find out yourself.
Hotel wise, you will most likely struggle to get something at a reasonable cost or available within walking distance.
A 10-15 drive from the circuit will produce better results.
But those who know of nice little reasonable hotels are going to keep it to themselves. Most will be repeat visitors with space only if a regular drops out. I haven't confirmed my rooms yet at my one, so no help from here!

I'm only going to the Classic next year because of work commitments but my reservation for that is already sorted.
I know it's over the top price- wise but for me it's worth it to be able to watch the night racing from the front lawn

Infact this year we just stayed at the hotel to watch the race, couldn't be bothered to fight through the yobs to get to the grandstandsGood position to see some action, flat screen TV to see the coverage on EuroSport and pluged into Radio LeMans
Look at the saving, not entrance charges or Grandstands to pay for
Not overcharged for stale sandwiches and beer
Also not getting the car damaged going through Arnarge

Hi, you could always try The Village on the Curves (formally Porsche Owners International Village) See Beermountain rating!So far price wise it looks like it'll cost around just under £335 a head camping with some niceties.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Travel Destinations - they have the temporary rooms available. They advertise with Radio Le Mans and had a few infomercials on over the race week.. I don't know how much it costs, but they are the most likely avenue for something fixed, near the circuit (at Antares!) and with availability.

Hi Architect - I haven't read the whole thread, so maybe someone has already suggested this.
My first year at Le Mans was arranged with nil experience - I rang the Tourist Office whe helpfully gave me the phone number of someone 20 mins from the circuit doing B&B. They had five rooms available and moved out of their house, returning in the mornings to make us breakfast!
I'd say it was only 10K from the circuit, but commuting did take some time. However, it worked out brilliantly and will be much much less expensive than a hotel - if all you are looking for is a bed and hot shower.

if you want a bit of comfort, how about hiring a camper van in northern france and staying in that?
for all the issues of various campsites and the occasional 'herberts' they attract i'd never want to be far enough away from the track that i couldnt have a stab at guessing what each car was by ear as it hammered past on the nearby track.
