Thinking about changing my wifes E46 330i Sport (saloon) for either of the above, as she really fancies a convertible. Am I right in thinking that the 3 actually has more rear seat room than the 6? It seems from the classifieds that you can buy a tidy example of either for sub £20k. We have kids aged 12 and 15 and I'm wondering if it's a move we would regret, although we would use my large saloon for long family runs anyway, so the back seats would rarely be used for more than half an hour at a time. Anyone got experience of both cars?

E46 convertible has useful rear seats for 2 people, front seat users will probably need to move front seats forward a couple of notches from ideal, but not too much of an issue. Should be OK for 30 minutes. The 6 series rears are ornamental and about the correct size for two small dogs.

I was afraid that would be the case for the 6! frown
The 3 would be the newer shape than the E46, with the folding metal hard top. Would that make it better or worse?
