1964 230SL pagoda - PARTS? (GLASS)
Discussion
Just a quick one, my father has recently bought a 1964 230SL pagoda.
This afternoon, the drivers side window has shattered completely.
Is this going to be:
a) a main dealer part?
b) a second hand part from a specialist breakers?
c) autoglass or someone like that, could they help?
d) completely unavailable. And obsolete. Give up, go home, and leave it in the garage to rot into oblivion.
Thanks in advance. Trying to pre-empt the "any chance of help son?" that is coming my way tomorrow.

Try www.silchestercars.co.uk they rebuild Pagoda`s and other classic Merc`s.Don`t let anyone other than a Mercedes specialist near a lovely car like that.
To save typing it all out again , I have copy/pasted a reply to a similar enquiry on another forum . Although that was in regard to parts for a R107 , everything applies equally to W113 parts .
I have both a W105 Ponton as well as a W111 Fintail so am familiar with suppliers of parts for cars of this era .
Hi Ray , and welcome to the forum .
There are quite a few R107 owners on here , who I am sure will be happy to help with advice .
There is also a lot of good knowledge over on the Mercedes-Benz Club , a lot of us here are members of both clubs

Yes , there are lots of specialist suppliers , mostly in Germany . However , in the scheme of things , your car is 'relatively' modern , so most everything is still available through the dealer network .
The Classic Parts specialist dealer in the UK is MB Poole ( formerly Jackson's ) and the man to speak to there is Mervyn Wright . Mervyn has been there 'forever' and has an encyclopaediac knowledge of MB parts beyond what is even on the computer system !
You can telephone him on 01202 666 330 or email him at mervyn.wright@mercedes.co.uk
Still within the UK , parts factors such as Eurocarparts will still carry a lot of parts for the R107 series - a lot of parts are shared with other contemporary models such as the W123 series and W126 series so plenty of demand - they will supply OEM parts from various suppliers to MB
The website is Euro Car Parts | The UK's Number 1 Provider of Car Parts Online and In Store
Looking abroad , most of the specialists in Germany tend more to concentrate on older models from the 1950's and 1960's , but are now starting to cater for 1970's models such as yours which are now recognised as 'young classics' .
There is Heinrich Neimoller in Mannheim , his website is
Niemoeller Mercedes Benz spare parts Germany
Then there is DB Depot in Hamburg
Ersatzteile für Ihren Mercedes Benz, Spare Parts for Classic Cars Daimler W 107, C 107, R 107, W 108, W 109, W 110, W 111, W 112, W 113, W 114, W 115, W 116, W 123, W 126, Ersatzteile W 107, C 107, R 107, W 108, W 109, W 110, W 111, W 112, W 113, W 1
