Just building on another recent thread, and not wishing to hijack, I hope to be in a position to buy one in Spring next year, bonus gods willing.

Clearly, it's a different proposition to buying MX5s (look for rust - the end) and the like, since there seem to be endless perms and combinations, different chassis and bodywork weights etc.

The time to start really understanding how to go about buy one is now, I think.

How best to go about this? What are the best sources of info? Are most/many cars known entities (as in "that's a good 'un because X", "avoid that one, they skimped on Y"). Do club members offer advice/accompaniment re purchases.

So many questions - as I say, very happy (indeed insistent on doing) to do my own due diligence, but some up front pointers/sources would be greatly appreciated.

Bonefish, the best thing you can do is get yourself along to a kitcar show, open day or club meet . I THINK Furysportscars are having an open day imminently so that would be a good place to get up close and personal with the Fury. Also on Friday 5th August we have our club meet at the Grasshopper, A25 Westerham Kent where we normally have 4/5 Fury and 4/5 bike engined cars turn up, R1, Hayabusa and Fireblades. All are willing to give you a
ride.

It's true no two Fury's are the same, and some are better than others. But they are a sound chassis design and handle with the best of them if fitted with decent suspension and set up properly.

Thanks for that - I can't see any mention of an open day on their site, but I'll keep looking.

A Friday meet on the opposite side of the M25 is difficult for me, but thanks very much for the thought.

Best first step is to pop up to Stafford in Sept., I think.

Cheers.

I am liking the GTA (there doesn't seem to be much info., though?), but not liking the Gemini so much - looking to buy, not build whatever I go for, I think.

it seems that there is some stagnation in the kitcar industry since a few years.

the nice and good selling designs are getting copied, companies are handed over in a short time...but i´m missing new ideas and improvements...especially in the standard price range.

but i dont want to pass the buck to the kitcar industry only:
the laws for getting a kitcar on the road are getting more and more strict, which cuts the scope for development, especially for smaller companies, and do leave less space for the builder to infuse his own innovations into the project.

on the other side i must be said, that there are lots of modern-materials on the market, used by the mass-production industry, which havent found their way into the kitcar-constructions.

sometimes it also seams that improvements are not done, caused by the higher price they would cost, but on the other side companies are investing time and money to get a 40year old technoloy, like a spitfire/herald upright "improved"
