How many adverts? It seemed that no sooner than one ad break had finished there was another, and another -there was a lot more ads than 'normal' I'm sure.

And then to cap it all, they didn't show the post race press conference. Do they show adverts during football matches - no - then why so many during a race. What's going on? Bring back a decent pay per view!

They didn't do a grid-walk either. They just spoke to Trulli and that was really it.

They spoke to Trulli - but he couldn't speak back

Post race conferences are boring anyway. I'm off to watch the BTCC now.

We get good coverage via the Speed Channel in the US. I guess we are just immune to adverts...

...Also, did ITV have access to that synchronized cam that followed the cars out of the pits? Basically locked onto the cars and moved with them? Fun technology...

They also have one of those cameras i think it's at Hockenheim (or maybe magny cours) at the hairpin. It's quite impressive. It gets up to speeds of about 60mph.

Its installed by the local "host" broadcaster - RTL/WigeData at Nurburgring.

BBC & now ITV have been putting a pitlane camera in at Silverstone for ages, but the technology for controling the cameras is getting so much better, and camera technology improves every year. C4 have a 1200 frame per second (compared to normal 25 fps )system on the cricket this year.

Does cricket really need slowing down any more??? Maybe they should have a 12 fps and run it at double speed, make it a bit more exciting, and end it all a lot quicker!

I always think slow motion in motor racing is rather ironic. After all, it is supposed to be all about speed.

Totally agree, every now and again they put a camera at a fantastic s bend and you see the cars travelling at their 'normal' speed, and it looks phenomenal.

You can keep your slow mos.

... you get good shots of the cars bouncing over the kerbs, and the tyres flexing, and flies trying their damndest not to get sucked down the air ram....

What! watched it today, It was as interesting as the clio cup.....I would not like to insure either.

Next time I think i'll watch paint dry!!!

I thought the BTCC highlights were excellent - as were the two ETCC races shown on Europsport.

But I'm a tad concerned about the quality of the BTCC driving. A good few of the drivers probably ought to be limited to driving in demolition derbys, and quite what possessed Reid to do the best part of a lap on the racing line with oil somke in the cabin and unburnt stuff dropping on the track is beyond me.

I quite agree, some of them seem to only be able to overtake, or try to overtake by barging the other out of the way. They should watch the ETCC and see how they do it there. Andy Priaulx was brilliant at Brno.

The standard of driving in the BTCC has been, let's say, "robust" for many years. I have the video of the 1992 season which is looked on as a bit of a classic year now. Door banging has always been part of the BTCC scene.

Door banging I don't mind, but using the car in front instead of your brakes seems a little excessive to me, as does using the nose of your car to knock another's back end out or keep it from strightening seems a tad excessive. Especially as in the latter case this results in quite a nasty two car crash into the tyre wall.

I'm sure a little jostling for position is all very well, but actions that are almost certain to result in one or more car hitting the barriers should be the exception rather than the rule.

V8 you are correct, of course. But it WAS exciting.

To be honest, there are very few saints out there on the track and they all, more or less, employ similar tactics. It is up to the Clerk of the Course and the Stewards to decide what action needs to be taken. I did feel a bit for Rob Collard. As a privateer, any shunts which result in his car being damaged are going to be paid for out of his own pocket - but, on the other hand, if you want to swim with the sharks, you've got to be prepared for the odd bite.

As I said, take a look at the antics of the 1992 guys (Andy Rouse, David Leslie, Keith O'Dor etc) and you'll see that nothing much has changed.

Boring? Maybe!! but then go and watch the BTCC? Yawn.

Todays Touring Cars are pathetic, can someone please tell me what the hell the rear wings do? they have no profile. Just dressing up pretending to be race cars

Put a full on GT race infront of the vast majority of the VX Racing entourage (its a Vauxhall FFS you sad f**kers) and they'd shit themselves!

I think those wings really do work - up to a point. Back in 1994(?) there was a major row about Alfa's use of wings so someone must have thought they had some effect.
