Labelling of everything as 'chav' why do it?

After being on this forum for a few months i have noticed a common trait that i find strange.
As soon as someone dislikes a car or the demographic of the person driving them it is regarded as 'chav' meaning anything from a bentley to a 106 and everything in between could be chav.
I find this slightly idiotic and slightly hypocritical as the people who usually use it, use it in a derogatory manner but the use of the word implies the person is fickle and has a very simple opinion. Surely 'chav' in itself is a 'chav' thing to say?

(yes i am youngish and i have a white focus st but i also develop medicine for a living)

Focus ST's have been the chav choice for a while now. A few years ago, it was Imprezas and Lancer Evolutions. Not so much a comment on the quality of the car, more the type of people who like them (young lads from council estates who love thrashing them and driving badly). The Imprezas and Lancer Evolutions are great cars, the Focus ST not so much. As much as I like them, they do have a chavvy image, which has spoiled things a bit. If you like the car though, you just get on with it. After all, almost every time I'm out driving I see a chavvy looking Volvo S60, debadged in grey with anthracite wheels on it. Probably one of the last cars you'd think of as chavvy but there you go!

council house and violence. it's a catch all phrase for anyone with limited social and cultural understanding who behaves with little or no consideration for others. rich ones are conspicuous consumers, think "new money".i guess the US equivalent might be rednecks, but that's not really an ideal fit.

Just to clarify:Im 25.
My parents both live in council flats.
I thrash my car why not whats the point in have a 'fast' car and not driving faster when safe to do so.
I am fortunate enough to have purchased my own house(although i have a mortgage) through hard work. By your definition i am 'chav' this therefore makes you one of the simple people i am talking about still opinions are like (insert word) everyone has one!
