Evening all,

A few of us are going on a road trip from Kilmarnock up the West Coast to Fort William. We are trying to plan routes which will incorporate some fuel stops for Super-unleaded.

Does anyone know where we can find a filling station to the west of Loch Lomond or near to Fort William?

Many thanks

I passed 3 or 4 fuel stations in Fort William on Friday, driving in on the A82 from the northeast.

Click on this for Shell: http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&...
We have a BP on the A813 near Balloch, just off the A82 does the usual st 97ron. That's it for a good 50 miles heading North. There is an ESSO on main street Alexandria again on the way into Balloch does 97 ron crap as well.

The Morrison's in Dumbarton doesn't sell super.
There is a shell on the A82 Clydebank that does V Power, my Local from Balloch.

Just before you go over the Erskine bridge there is a turn off, head south for about 2 miles and there is another vpower Shell. not sure of the name though.
Hope this helps for Loch Lomond.

No they are no a Shell retailer.

They may do 97 "super" but that's it.

There is an Esso a BP and a Gleaner, plus a Morrisons in Fort William.
There are also two Gleaner stations before Fort Will one at Glenco village the other at North Ballachuilish.

Gleaner.co.uk will list all their stations, they all (or at least most) used to be Shell, but I'm not sure any will stock Vpower though.

Stick in a postcode and this site will tell you www.petrolprices.com You'll need to sign up first but they don't send you anything.

Esso garage in Helensburgh does super unleaded. There's also a Shell garage on the Paisley side of the Erskine Bridge i.e. Erskine! that does V power. These, along with the Balloch one, are the last of the cheap petrol stations past Dumbarton.

Not much else further up - there's a garage in Arrochar, but their opening hours are pretty erratic and I can't remember if they do super unleaded or not.

Green Welly Stop in Tyndrum is a wee bit pricey. There's a huge Esso in FW and from vague memory, the big supermarket (Tesco / Morrisons?) has a service station there with super unleaded at a reasonably normal price.

Google is your friend...

...Or use a Tesco store locator to look for Tesco's SUL - 'Momentum' - which is cheaper than V-Power and the same RON rating (99).

Thanks everyone for your comments! Very useful.

(Scotty - This is a road trip from Teesside, so you might not have seen my car around recently. I say recently, as one of the previous owner close to Kilmarnock!)

No Super at the Green Welly or Callandar, which is strange given the biker popularity and Dreadnaught garage respectively.
I got caught out with that on way to Oban.

Fort William has a couple of garages that do Super Unleaded. Can't remember if there is a V-Power Shell.

Greenwelly didn't do super-unleaded last year.
Depending on your route and how many miles before fill ups.

Falkirk - Tesco in retail park 98 ron (not your usual 97 p#sh).
Check Stirling Services - old Granada now Moto (Esso)
Check Lix Toll if going up A85
If you go Loch Lomond way then Esso at Arrochar does sell s/unleaded.
If going to Fort W via Oban, then Bridge of Awe also sells s/unleaded, as does the Esso just after Connel.
In Fort W, the Esso garage through the town used to sell s/unleaded - better check.

Hope this helps.
