We're considering going to Goodwood Revival this year. We're kind of interested in the racing, but to be honest it probably comes slightly below soaking up the ambience and wandering around seeing the sights, but I'm basing that on our Festival of Speed experiences.

With that in mind, is it worth getting a grandstand seat. Can you still effectively watch the racing without grandstand seats?

They're not essential at all. One of the things I really like about Goodwood is that there wherever you are around track there is something to see. Obviously the prime viewing places are where the grandstands are and you cant stand in front of them except at Lavant corner.

I've always ended up at Lavant, you can see much of the "back" of the circuit the video screen shows you what's happening around the "front" of the circuit, plus you get all the planes landing and taking off just above your head. Mmmmmmmm Merlin engines.....
