I am looking to upgrade my 320d Msport manual Tourer 06 model, up a couple of years.
I am looking at either a 330/530 or a 335/535 msport tourer in an auto.
I have twins on the way so was thinking the 5 may suit better just purely on space, however my remapped 320d is a great drive
How does the power, economy and drive of the two cars compare?

I am looking to spend £16-17K on an 08 mid mileage car.

330d (which I have an LCI version of) will feel slightly quicker than your remapped 320d (which I used to have a briefly remapped example of)... 530d tourings feel heavy to me (and I drive them all the time at work) but also feel quicker than a remapped 320d ... just nowhere near the fun.

I don't think the 530d offers huge space advantages over the 330d but I have never tried it side by side ... if you know what I mean.

Im now onto my 3rd E91 3 series, this is my 2nd 335d and the other one was a 330d

The 335d in Tourer form isn't a common car, I searched for a good while before I got mine, the flipside of this is they are fairly sought after and will usually command a premium over a similar specced coupe or saloon. However I think it's a premium worth paying.

The 330d we had previously was good but I found it a little breathless at the top end compared to the 335d, hardly surprising really, but that aside it was a cracking car, it just wasn't a 335 and that was always in the back of my mind, coupled to the rear end view it didn't look nearly as nice as the 335 does with the exhaust at either side.

We've been looking for a new car recently and had a look at the E90 Touring & E61. IMO the 5 is much bigger inside than the 3.

We have a 335d touring for our family bus, we have been through travel cots nappies push chairs and all that stuff, and have never found it short of space, if you pack well!

We tried the 535d touring but found it too large, and the 330d and i and found them a bit 'slow' (but was coming out of an M5).
