So there I was, lying on my back underneath my old Series III. Old sump oil draining into tray next to me. Reach up with a ratchet to remove oil filter. Have done this a hundred times before, so know where to position myself to avoid oil from filter. Forgot. As I removed the filter I was therefore hit square between the eyes by a gush of old engine oil. Jerk away from it, dropping ratchet into tray, splashing more oil into my hair and simultaneously hit tray with shoulder, upending the entire contents all over the driveway and clothing. Then admonished by wife for use of very foul language and ruined clothes.

Brilliant, love stuff like that.

It's the one where you are undoing something tight that get's me.
Suddenly it comes loose with a start, and you smack yourself in the head. Then you recoil and smash your head on the floor. In reaction to that you jerk your head and headbutt the underside of the car.

Cue many expletives.
I've managed to do that before but my head landed in a tray of old engine oil, serves me right for working on the suspension while doing an oil change I 'spose.

Even you think you're shaded by current gale force winds... I still never suggest changing oil and oil filter. The oil itself wasn't bad. But a massive gust of wind came under the car just as I unscrewed the filter...

So much oil everywhere... >< All over me, then rolled all over the drive way in the wind.

biggrin I was working on something in a campsite once and every so often I kept hearing "bks, bks, bks". When I rolled out from underneath it turned out to be the German owner walking past who said that that's what all Landy owners say.

At least you didn't do what I did - try to sit up - that went well!
