karcher washer expelling water from where it shouldnt
Discussion
unpacked my karcher yesterday not used it in months due to various reasons but anyway plugged it in started using it then realised pressure seemed off and it kept making funny noises kind of like a steam train chuffing noise every 10 seconds or so and when it did that it expelled quantities of water from all the openings in the case. anyone any ideas at all or bin it and start again its a pain as i have only ever used it about 6 times i think its a k2.32
had the same happen to mine. after discussions with Karcher, i binned it and bought a Nilfisk.

Had multiple Karchers and the quality really tailed off after about 1990. Went to cheap plastic casings, nylon impellers etc. I bought a Mac Allister (Kingfisher [B&Q] brand I think) to replace my last Karcher. It has an alloy internal casing, brass impeller, induction motor and more accessories than the equivalently priced Karcher. It is also rated at higher pressure and will work with hot water (cheap Karchers melt). I bought it in 2007 for GBP 135 and it’s still going strong. The two Karchers that it replaced lasted less than 18 months each.
Agree with the other posters about the Nilfisk machines. They are a very good machine but quite a bit dearer for the same performance. I dare say they will last three times as long as the Mac Allister though.
