Two-Stroke Tuning

OK, stop that smutty sniggering at the back. Has anyone got any recommendations for someone who can tune a two-stroke engine (Moto Morini, if that helps)? Ideally as close to Maidenhead as possible, or a mobile one.

I am not looking to push the performance envelope, just get it running smoothly and stop fading when I am trying to pull out.

Maybe a long shot, but you could try Keith Manning m/cycles in Winnersh. The bloke there is a proper bike mechanic.

My only experience with two strokes is JetSkis and to be honest, there isn't much you can do to tune them as such with performance gains being achieved from upgrades such as exhaust and skimmed heads etc.
Two strokes are essentially very simple so as long as you have a good spark, good fuel and good compression, all should be well.
When was the last time you changed the plugs?

I used to "tune" my old 2-stroke motorbikes myself though that only meant adjusting the gap and timing of the points. The Yamaha AS1 125cc twin I had for a while did however need professional help balancing the carbs.

I think the carb is fuggered up, and running too rich. But I don't want to wiggle andom screws and make it worse.

Thanks for that. Am a little worried they will laugh their bits off when I turn up in the qpod.

Was thinking about taking it over to Sid Moram in Slough, but again they only have a small door, so might not get the pod into the workshop. That and their workshop is not open Saturdays, so it isn't easy to get it over to them.

I managed to get my uncle to take a look, turns out that the carb was full of cack, he took it off, stripped it down, and the engine is now running 10 times better, now accelerating to 30 and holding the speed, which is great.

I will look at replacing the carb at some point, but at least it is drivable again.
