Well, change up properly so the car is not revving up etc. Ensure the car has no extra weight in it i.e. loads of junk in the boot etc.

If going down hills, leave it in gear but the highest gear you can, don't dip the clutch. I've heard no throttle open means the engine doesn't inject fuel where as clutching down does use fuel.

Don't ask me if this is correct or not though.

My van will def do 40miles once the fuel light has appeared.

Check your tyres aren't low.
Don't use anything electrical you don't need to e.g. aircon.
Try to drive without needing to use the brakes (but obviously don't crash into people, that'll affect the aerodynamics and makes things worse).
