Would you buy an MG ZT?

These seem to be one of the best kept secrets on the Used Car Market at the moment. For less than £2000 you can get a 2004 Estate car. All the ingredients of a bargain daily or track car. Seriously considering one as a replacement for the Accord Type R one day.


This one here has only 52,000 miles and is a 52 plate. Make them an offer and it's probably yours for £1500!

Happily, although I'd avoid the 1.8 K-series in a car that heavy.

I'd buy a V6 that has had the belts changed within the last year or a V8 to fit a supercharger to.

Other than that they do nothing for me.

Superb value but I always find them incredibly dull for some reason. I'd put up with it for the V8 but that's about it.

TBH I think they look great and have aged quite well. Give me the RWD version and a fuel car I'd be jumping for joy!

Depends what you're looking for in a car, my age and my needs I'd probably rather have the ZS over the ZT. Just a bit more suited to my age. But if you're getting on a bit nothing says old geezer like a ZT

Getting a bit 'council estate bling' these days - and the panel fit on facelift cars is absolutely shocking.

I was going to until I drove a 190+, it was horrible to drive, badly built, cramped, and felt like 10bhp, not 190. Massive let down, last time I listen to the MG fans...

I wouldn't, and I owned a ZT-T 160+ about 4 years ago. A lovely car but deeply flawed. The 1.8 is not as gutless as some would have you believe, and I found the turn in sharper than the V6. The main problem with mine was it basically fell apart - so disappointing!

No, I've always found them to look very tacky to my eyes. Poor man's Jag sums it up well, although really they look more like a poor interpretation of a poor man's Jag. I also place huge importance in interior design and the sea of naff plastic that fills these MG's didn't inspire me one bit.

I always liked them and think they are far better looking than the S-Type (which I assume is the Jag they are being compared to). Like the interiors too.

I bought a rover 75. And very nice it is too. It's worth getting an earlier one if you can, they got cheaper and cheaper as the years went on, so a very early one is much plusher than a late one.

I've always had an odd hankering for them, especially the V6.

But then I was sat on a shelf for 20 years before being born, so I'm already middle-aged...
