Beautiful old medieval city, I've only been to the city for a day at a time, I reckon a long weekend would be good, needs to be done in the summer though!
Great beer, they do a honey beer if I remember and they have some very old pubs that do great meat.
Did not see any chavy stag groups, although now they fly from Manchester things may go down hill.

Great place. We stayed for 3 nights a while back.
Stayed at the http://www.merchantshousehotel.com/index.php?main=...
Has a micro brewery opposite!
Hell Hunt http://www.hellhunt.ee/eng/main is a great pub as well.

They may have already? I spent three nights there five years ago and had a great time, well worth a visit, every thing was so cheep.I bet all the prices have shot up now though? Great food, great beer and lovely people with plenty of night life. Its wired walking back to your hotel after mid-night(I`m old) and its still day light. This time of the year there is only a few hours of darkness and in the winter its the opposite.

Just go. It will be great.
'Beery Brits' have been, found they couldn't get in anywhere other than the scummiest bars, and have since moved on to cheaper destinations.
Read the Tallinn 'in your pocket' guide (also downloadable as a PDF) for where to go.

The centre, within the wall, is beautiful and welcoming - a real chocolate box look to it.
Good bars, cafes, restaurants and pretty cheap.
we stayed at the Three Sisters Hotel http://www.tablethotels.co.uk/The-Three-Sisters-Ho... which was lovely.

Another vote for The Three Sisters! Went with SWMBO some 4 years ago. Really comfortable hotel, fantastic old town, loads of restaurants, bars etc. Also go to the Occupation Museum if you like history, very interesting, all about WW2 and the Russian times.Good bars, cafes, restaurants and pretty cheap.

We went there for 3 nights in late December 2006 and thought it was great.
Prices were reasonable and the old city was fantastic.
We love to go to museums and to the art galleries when we visit abroad and were blown away by the new one which had just opened, the name of which escapes me for the moment.
Others have said to go in the summer but we loved the Christmas fair they had there with added another dimension to it all.
You can also go around the Tsar’s old summer palace and there is plenty to do.
Would recommend buying a Talinn card as it gives free entry to almost everywhere and free bus rides. Don’t bother paying for a transfer – the airport is about a 30 minute bus ride and it is easy to sort out which bus to catch and so on. City is easy to walk around.
You will also find the place is full of Finnish who pop over to buy their grog.
If you go you must try a few of the different type of Vana Tallinn - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vana_Tallinn
We are seriously considering going back again if only to buy a few more bottles of this stuff as we have run out of all save the fire water version 

an amazing city. We went on a chaps holiday in february. More bars and drinking dens than you could ever need, beautiful 'old town' area. Stayed in the Merchants House Boutique Hotel. I can highly recomend that place and the beer hall opposite. There was also an amazing student bar that did the largest pancakes Ive ever seen..the name escapes me but it is well worth seeking out..

If you like motorsport, a moment of reflection here could be part of your visit.
Nice of you to mention this.I was privileged to have been invited to the unveiling ceremony as I was with Mike in his early rallying years.Mike loved partying and he would have approved of the night out we all had in Tallinn that evening.whythem said:
Tallin is also home to some of the fittest birds in the world.
Hmm.. I must need to buy some specs or change my taste in women if that's the case. There's certainly plenty of flesh on show atm. Hotpants and miniskirts are definitely in fashion. Low cut, loose tops are also the flavour of the month. Mind you, with temperatures in the 30's loose lightweight clothing has its' advantages.
Although they're not fat, one peculiarity to Estonian women is a well padded posterior. Strange to see a slim girl with a fat ass and slim legs.
