Groupon have an offer today on Banksy inflatable hot tubs - £259 I think it is

http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/national-deal/Banks...

It looks like it will be rubbish, noisey, and not remotely like a real hot tub.

But I thought I'd ask...will it be? Or will the girlfriend love me for ever and ever if one of these turned up in 4-6 weeks?

I think the problem is.. you're imagining this when you get home one night after work:

But the reality with that hot tub is..

I have no doubt that if they were remotely simiar to a "real" one, I would get home every night to the girlfriend in there with a glass of wine and a book hehe

I'd hope, however, her girlfriends would be in there with her, but forgot to bring their bikinis. Well, a man can hope!

I've not had experience with those ones, but I've worked with two rival products of a very similar vein (as in, I'll bet my bottom dollar they come out of the same factory). They're OK, nothing at all like a proper hot tub, basically just like an outdoor bath with added rubber noises, the feint whiff of chlorine and some bubbles. They're a touch awkward to get in and out of gracefully, or without flooding the flower beds, but other than that they're not bad, like a big, deep, hot paddling pool with bubbles, as opposed to the 5 grand power massager / swim jetted/ ball tickler built in jobbies.

The one I was given has lasted fine, the novelty wore off long before the product wore out. They take a good while to fill and get up to temperature (if you want it on saturday, I'd start to prepare it on thursday), and unless you're of the Ecclestone blood line or from the country they're made, their claims that 4 adults fitting in comfortably may be a touch far fetched unless you're at a swingers party or very intimate, but for a couple of adults just looking to sit outside and look up at the stars with a G&T, they're really not bad at all.

That's interesting - not as "don't touch them with a barge pole" as I thought would be said!

When you say they take a while to get up to temperature - do you mean you'd put it on on Thursday and it would have heated up by Saturday? Is it using a cigarette lighter to heat it?!

What is wrong with a garden bench?

I don't have one for starters, and they're more awkward to heat to 45C - especially in the north east wink

If it's 15C outside, I'd rather be indoors!

24 hours is about the minimum to get up to temperature. But again, I live in the north east biggrin If you're running it constantly, they take 6-8 hours a day of maintenance heating once up to temp, and cost about a 8 quid a week to run.

If it's 15C outside, it's summer here biggrin It's actually rather nice being in a 40 degree pool while the temperatures are well below zero, especially with snow on the ground. smile

I guess your "rather nice" and my "rather nice" are different. wink
