Something blew out of my car window today and I turned round to go back and retrive it from the middle of the road. Naturally, as soon as I'd parked, a string of traffic appeared from nowhere and while I was waiting for the queue to pass, I saw a police car approaching.
And yes, it pulled up in front of me. Damn! Switch off engine in case he thinks it's a bit loud and starts asking questions. Start mental checklist: I wasn't speeding (I was stationery!), tax, yep, insurance, yep... what else?
And it turned out to be a very attractive WPC who'd simply stopped to ask if I'd broken down!
In hindsight I should have said yes, and asked for a lift back to my bedroom
