Hi, I'm looking for some advice on buying some sort of iPhone kit for my '54 BMW 330ci Sport. I've been tempted to buy the Dynavin unit in the past but as I'm saving for my first house I don't really want to be spending that much money right now. Instead I'm looking for something that will connect my iPhone to my factory BMW headunit. I was thinking about going for this DICE kit but have been put off a little by some reviews I've just read. Here's the kit I was considering:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

What I would like is for it to be seamless integration. I don't want wires dragging across the dashboard and would like to keep steering wheel radio controls, artist/track display on the head unit, etc when using the kit. Also I'm wondering about where the iPhone would connect to the unit as placing it in the glovebox would be a pain in case I get a call at any time.

Any suggestions, tips, links to recommended kits would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Justin

Hi

Look at the Intravee setup here..

http://www.intravention.co.uk/

It will replace or emulate the oem CD changer and you connect your iPod to it and have full control via the oem controls. Many users will put the ipod in the boot area and leave it there.

Cheers, Dennis!

Cheers Dennis. I'd need it to plug into my iPhone rather than iPod for music playback but I'll take a look at that unit and see if I can do that and also where I can place it in the car.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Yesterday I fitted a DICE kit to my e39 2003 with nav, and my comments are:

Really easy to install - the tricky bit is running the cable from the rear if you want to do that.

Quite fiddly to use - It works but takes some getting used to, with combinations of button presses and disc selection needed to navigate your collection. Works well with the BT on my car though.

A very clever idea, reasonable well executed. £80 new from amazon, so not bad for the money. Audio quality is spot on which is the main thing.

Good luck and write back with your choice.
