I have a parnis watch and think the quality is very good and I know of tao international having good quality homage watches. Well what I'm wondering is if there are any other brands that I should look out for. Well prices quality homages?

One word - Seiko.

No need for any homage here, Seiko are excellent quality watches with bona fida in house movements.

They have something to suit all tastes and budgets, and if you think that your Parnis is good quality you will be blown away by a Monster > Sumo > MM300.

Parnis are OK IMO, and I started with a sub $30 Navitimer homage, but if you're on a budget you can't go wrong with Seiko. Even those fortunate few (most of the people on here and TZ) who can afford to indulge in Rolex/Breitling/Omega will not turn their nose up at a Seiko. Apart from Nems, but the chap's gone all 'normal' on us and doesn't care for his watches any more eekwink

Try one, you'll have no problems moving it on if it's not for you.

yes

I used to have one of these, but with a black bracelet and black bezel:

For ~£220, you can't really go wrong! Robust, reliable, and good quality! smile

I have a Citizen Orca, have had a Seiko Black Monster, and quite honestly for the money, the quality is beyond reproach.

I'm pondering an Ecozilla next.

I've had several Chinese watches and to describe the quality as very good is a bit daft. The water resistance, if any, is always a question. The Asian 21J movements in these will always get a wobbly rotor if worn constantly.

Cost of returns, dirt, over oiling, finger prints, spelling mistakes on the dials etc etc are all things you'll have to put up with. Leather straps are at times instant bin fodder too.

Let's not beat around the bush. Some of these are coming out of the same factories as fakes. They're just 'rebranded'.

Don't get me wrong though, I love a bargain as much as the next man, and always have an eye open. For that reason, I can't recommend Getat watches enough. Spend $100 on one of his 44mm PAM clones with a sterile face and you'll be a happy camper. Having a watch custom made at that price point is not to be sniffed at.

As mentioned Seikos are well within your grasp. Even modified ones too. Google 'Yobokies' . I've been dealing with 10watches and DOtwatches too. Those two chaps are making some really nice modified divers.

In short, for a little more outlay you can have a bombproof Seiko or a custom job.

I have a TAO which cost £58, I saw the real thing in Regent Street at around £15,000 I think. Doesn't take much brain power to realise that unless you are pretty wealthy £15k is more than most people can save up, and then there are bigger priorities than a watch.
