Advice please.
The drivers window on my Tamora has stopped going down slighty when I open the door. The passenger window is ok and does go down when the door is opened and up when the door is closed.
To help find the problem is it ok to just swap the door ECUs around without doing any damage?
Any ideas on what the problem could be?
Thanks.

Door micro switch. Do you get the '#14 RHS door open' warning on the dash with the engine running?, does the interior light come on with the door open? If you set the alarm with the door open do you get the 'beeps'? if not its almost 100% certain its the door switch that either moved or is broken.

Remove the alloy strike plate to access the door lock. Remove the door lock and the switch is mounted to the door plate. Quite common for the switch arm to fall off!

Thanks for the info Shep.
There is no #14 warning but the interior light did not come on and there was no beep when I set the alarm with the door open. The door locks and unlocks ok.
I removed the alloy cover plate and checked that all the screws where tight. I found two very small screws which were loose - one I could tighten the other just kept turning. After doing this the window worked!! So I'm guessing the small screws hold the micro switch.
I still need to take the lock off to sort the loose screw.
There are 5 allen screws - 3 around the outside and 2 in the middle of the lock.
Which ones hold the door lock?
Is there a danger of any parts dropping down the back when I loosen the lock?
Thanks again.

Yes, those two small screws hold the micro switch in place (there are nuts on the back of the switch. If you remove the 5 hex bolts under the plate you can remove the lock mechanism and check all is well with the switch. Go easy when lifting it out of the door hole just in case the arm off the micro switch has come loose. This is the only bit that can fall off inside the door.

The inner (longer) 2 hex bolts can be a sod to get them to bite into the back plate. If you have something slim it helps to hold the lock and the back plate together then try to tighten the bolts.

No light when the door opens is indicative of the switch being faulty or out of alignment. I assume it works when the other door is opened? Its a right arse to lign the switch up as the arm needs to be bent so the switch is actuated when the lock is closed. When tightning the bolts back up don't do them to tight as this can alter the position of the lock so the switch moves.

Took me about an hour to get it right. In the end I mounted a piece of foam on the arm of the switch to make better contact with the lock.

Now I've tighten one of the micro switch screws the window works and the light now comes on which it did not do before. The other door is ok.
The nut must have come off the loose micro switch screw.
I will take the lock out over the weekend and probable glue the nuts into place.
Thanks for your help it's saved me a lot of time.

Use thread lock on the screw bolts and a bead of silicone round the switch. If you ever need to change it it will be a bd to get out if its glued in. Those screws are quite unique too, I could not find replacements of the correct (head) size so best not to damage them!

The heads of the small screws on the micro switch look very similar to the 6 screws for the alloy covers. In case you need any more, when I drilled all 6 out, I replaced them with allen head screws I bought from a model shop.

Similar but not long enough. The screws for the micro switch are about an inch long as the go through the back plate and the micro switch. Those to screwsneed to sit flush with the back plate otherwise the chrome finishing cover will not sit flat.
