Why is it rude?

Loads of people advertise cars on ebay etc by linking to longer established vehicles, out of the two cars for sale there the RCR looks to have a lot more features to interest potential purchasers.

I do not know a lot about SL-C's but to be honest they look great. Ultimas rock but its healthy to see some competition.

I kind of object to people building a car, making a few mods to deviate from the factory defaults, and then calling it something else and claiming they are a manufacturer. What exactly is the difference between taking an Ultima GTR, changing a few things and then calling it a RCR SL-C, compared to what most builders on these forums do when building their Ultimas? I don't see anyone else that put a non-standard motor/gearbox/suspension/etc. saying they designed a new car and it's not an Ultima anymore.

WTF....confused the RCR SL-c IS in no way shape or form an ultima...
Its a completely different car....
a couple of people have however bought RCR sl-c's and made mods and tried to market them as a new vehicle... in fact some didnt even make any mods...rolleyes

To start, I also think it is still an Ultima, but the international laws are different on this.
In fact a lot of respectable companies do the same: Alpina, Brabus, RUF, etc.
Some OEM are now cooporating with these modifiers.

The laws say that if you change at least 8 (not sure about the number,it's been ages ago since I delt with it) distinctive points on a car, you have a new car. This also means you need to comply to all laws with the car.

Let's be clear, most OEM don't like it, and there for, every part of a car is now seperately being copyright protected, instead of a complete car. This prevents the mentioned above.
I can asure you this is a very very boring job to do.

I don't think people are saying the RCR is a re-hashed Ultima. It is the fact the advertiser on the link has clearly titled it as an Ultima GTR.
It does go on to say the car is a RCR so why the wrong heading??

hard work aint it!!!

The RCR SLC is its own car, i think its class....

The reason for the link as Ash says is to get more hits pure and simple, clever if you ask me. If you sell a car on ebay put Lotus, Ferrari etc in the title to get more views. The SLC is a new car and not as well established as Ultima yet, but looking at their website i dont think it will be long.

Possibly as an attention-getter ?
The Ultima, although not a household recognised name is pretty well known in car circles.
The SLC maybe to a lesser extent.
Fran needs to develop more world-wide recognition and maybe tap the popular markets some more with his product.. Chassis etc looks great, a few teething probs to overcome for home builders and IVA etc but doesnt look insurmountable for anyone with reasonable engineering skills. For those who just want a Lego set it maybe worth watching the SLC for a little while longer.
Could be a very good contender in the correct skilled hands.

Perhaps the 'title' also isn't a free text field but can only be selected from pre-defined drop down lists?

I'm not saying it's true just throwing a suggestion out there.

Not so obvious Dom but was actually banter aimed at Kyles' dislike to early mornings and flying, both of which I think were reluctantly on his to-do list yesterday am !biggrin

I would guess that this is probably more to the point!
