Hindhead Tunnel IF/When?
Discussion
Paper said Wednesday 6th so it should be open, but wait one second, it's not. Surprise surprise.
The signs say July, but I think they are currently covered over, so expect it to open next year.
The problem will then be Ham Barn roundabout which was built to slow traffic for Hindhead (or some Hindhead related thing), but wasn't put into the original scheme of works, so they aren't taking it out, so it'll become the new Hindhead bottleneck until they do.

Just wait till you get near Guildford and slow down for where the Hogsback joins with all the extra trafic you'll be queing back for some distance I should think? The signs say July, but I think they are currently covered over, so expect it to open next year.

I believe it is due to be open within the next couple of weeks. I have just bought a house in the Hindhead area so was hoping to take full advantage of 1.1 miles of noise tube!.... shame I had to sell the car to buy the house
Do you regret it yet, what you going to get instead dude!

Having never known the name of that roundabout till now I did a quick google and stumbled across a link that states "The Ham Barn roundabout was installed for the benefit of a defence programme that is no longer in use (to facilitate the movement of Cruise Missiles traveling north) and there is now no need for vehicles to be able to come off the A3 at that point." That's the first I've ever heard of that despite living in the area since 1992 - anyone else ever hear this?
