I broke my towbar!!

Well actually it was on a scrapper, but I wanted the towball off the back.

WD40, breaker bar and applied a little of my weight to it....


.... it's moving, that's good, bolts will undo...


....oh!





I'm sure that there is a moral to the story, along the lines of don't trust old and rusty looking tow bars, but TBH I just thought it was quite amusing. And that maybe I need to go on a diet.

during the MOT on my MILs Volvo V70 they told her she had to have the tow bar removed as it was completely rotten.

while removing it it came away in the same manner as yours did her car is usually used to tow a caravan with...so that could have been messy

Until yesterday I'd always thought of tow-bars in general as being sufficiently substantial that even when they look a bit like they'd come off the Titanic, they would still be serviceable. Live and learn eh?

I guess it's just me that finds joy in unwrapping brand new bits.

Look at it another way. The cost of the WD40 and the chips required to replace all that expended energy would far outweigh the cost of a new one.

I recovered the rear crossmember of my rather stuck landrover.

On the second attempt i got the rest of the car
