Kenwood to ipod

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but i couldnt find one that it fitted into so feel free to move it.I am having trouble finding a way of connecting a ipod to my kenwood KDC-W4537U ( http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/... )with usb port, tried the cable that came with the ipod and was then told that wouldnt work so bought cable kenwood kca-ip200 but have since found out that it doesnt work and that i need kca-ip500 ( http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/... ) which seems to fit the back so whats the point in even having the usb slot?I dont understand.Ipod is a gen 2 nano.
